2012 National Night Out

Franconia Township Police Department’s
2012 National Night Out Against Crime Celebration

Nno 2012This year's National Night Out Against Crime, held on Tuesday, August 7th, was our biggest and best, by far! It was our department's 50th anniversary, and to help celebrate in conjunction with our annual event, we added fireworks to the agenda. We estimate, by the counting of cars, volunteers, etc, that we had over 3,000 people in attendance during the main event.

Event highlights included our Public safety Bike Race, in which dignitaries faced off on children's bikes, an expanded kid's fun zone featuring the new Tiny Tots Swat Team obstacle course, a record setting custom car show, an expanded display of fire, police, and ambulance apparatus, and much more!

In addition to our main event on Tuesday, during the month of July ten local businesses participated in our NNO Food Drive. Together, they collected over 1000 pounds of food. On Monday, August 6, 2012, thanks to Dan Bedell, a local high school senior, we held our 1st NNO Kick-Off 5K run. We had 90 participants, raised $960, and collected more food donations. In total, we raised over 1,500 pounds of food, $1,115 in cash, and $150 in Landis gift cards. Every penny was distributed among five locally serving food pantries!

Special thanks to Bergey's for sponsoring our fireworks display, Univest for sponsoring our kick-off 5K run, and the many other volunteers, organizations, and individuals that donated their time to make this event so successful! Please enjoy the many photos on our Facebook page (Facebook.com/FranconiaPolice), as we had many talented local photographers donate their time and expertise to capture this amazing night on film.
