2006 National Night Out Against Crime Celebration

The Franconia Township Police Department held its 10th annual National Night Out Against Crime celebration on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. It was held at the Franconia Township Park on Allentown Road in Franconia Township . Despite the extreme temperatures of the evening, over 1,000 people joined the Police Department for the annual celebration.

National Night Out is an annual worldwide event in which law enforcement agencies, local officials, local businesses, and citizens get together to increase anti-crime awareness and strengthen community partnerships.

The North Penn Goodwill Association was honored with a plaque from the Police Department for 10 years of dedicated participation. We greatly appreciate their continued support with all of our community and Police events.

Participants and spectators enjoyed many fun and exciting events at this year’s National Night Out. There was music, demonstrations of emergency services and equipment, a custom car show, and a guest appearance and family show by Hollywood Celebrity Retro Bill. Retro Bill is the official safety buddy of the nationwide D.A.R.E. Program. He is a nationally renowned child’s safety and self-esteem expert who tours the country year-round with his fun and energetic self-esteem and safety program. His show was entertaining, yet educational, which was enjoyed by spectators of all ages.

The Police Department was also fortunate to have a collection of local Police Department vehicles on display. Police Departments from Montgomery County , Lancaster County , and Philadelphia joined us for our celebration, displaying the partnerships between the Police Departments.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to all of our participants and donators. The vast success of our community programs is a direct result of contributions and support that are provided to the police department annually.
